This Week in West Point:

Hey everyone! How are you all doing this week? I had a really fun birthday on monday. Mom sent a package of hostess cupcakes with a bunch of candles. it was pretty weird sticking 22 candles on to one cupcake. the flame was pretty big. My companions surprised me by ordering McDonalds and having it dilivered for breakfast and for dinner we bought a couple pizzas.
I'm really excited for the baptisms coming up this sunday. Candy and Keven have made a huge change and have come a long way. They are both really excited. when i called Candy last night she sounded so happy. Allison, who is getting baptised the following week, is doing amazing. every time we teach her something new she will tell us right away that she knows that it's true. I love the way she prayes. lots of Hong Kong people when they pray will always say what they are greatful for but they don't want to ask God for anything. it's just the Hong Kong culture to not ask for help. But Alison will always ask for help to improve and she always shares her opinion with Heavenly Father. it's hard to explain but it's really cool.
This week we have been getting ready for a talent show that we have tomorrow. our district is going to sing a song while i play the guitar and then we are going to do a light show. we will all have glowsticks and do a kung fu dance to the "Everybody Is Kung Fu Fighting" song. it's pretty interesting but really fun. i'm excited for it.
We saw Mr Leung the other day. he is so amazing. we didn't have to argue with him to say the closing prayer. we just asked him and he just did it. He also wants to get the tripple combination so he can read D&C. i look forward to teaching him every week. I love you all so much and i hope that you have an amazing week. Thanks for all your support and love. The Church is True =)

This Week in West Point:

Hey everyone!!! I love Hong Kong!!! Today we just went to the Big Buddha on Lantau island. it was so much fun!! I made my first bargin today. I bought a Jade Dragon that normally was 150 but i talked them down to 100. I feel pretty cool and the dragon is awesome!!! =)
Sorry this week is going to be really short but i really have to hurry. we have a lesson in just a little bit. anyway this week has been amazing. we've been getting ready for our three baptisms coming up in the next couple weeks. it's been really crazy because this is all three of our's first baptisms. I LOVE SHARING THE GOSPEL!!!! When we were teaching Alison last week she said that she wanted to be baptised on the 21 of Feb but we just changed it to the 7th of march so here sister could go to it. Candy and Keven's is on the 28th! I'm so excited!!! This week has been really good. on monday we had our Deep Clean. we stayed in the appartment all day and cleaned EVERYTHING!!! our appartment looks pretty amazing right now =) haha it took me all day to clean our small kitchen. it was really fun. for new years the ward had an activity at the church and we had some good food and games and stuff. it was way fun. i love you all so much and i'm sorry this week is so short. I'll talk to you next week =) I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!! THE CHURCH IS TRUE!!!!!

This Week in West Point:

Hey everyone! how are you all doing? I MISS YOU ALL!!!! This week has been amazing!! (every week is amazing) =) haha The weather is starting to heat up now so it's back to sweating. i don't mind it though. it's a good way to lose weight. =) haha We did our Pros Time in the morning today so we can use the rest of the day to get some stuff done. so ya we just went finding up by Hong Kong University and talk to this kid that was way cool. hopefully we will be able to see him again. It's been a long time since we've gone finding because we are constantly going between here and Aberdeen to teaching appointments. It's a lot more fun teaching then finding =)
One of the biggest miracles of the past couple weeks is our investigator Mr. Leung. He's the one that i told you about a couple weeks ago that is athiest and was refusing to pray untill elder lybbert bore testimony and dropped the spirit bomb. =) haha any way, he is now one of our Progressing investigators. ha is so amazing. he still is not sure if God exsists and when ever we teach him he always will have a little bit of an arguement about something but we learned from elder lybberts example to just bare simple testimony and he has progressed so much now. he's starting to accept the Book of Mormon and he will pray. I love the scripture in Alma that says "by small and simple things are great things brought to pass, and small means in many instances doth confound the wise." The Power of simple testimony has "counfounded" Mr. Leung. haha It has opened something in his heart that hasn't been open for a long time i think. anyway i love him and we look forward to our visits with him every week.
I love being here in Hong Kong and doing this work. I'm so greatfull for the companions that i have right now and the example they are to me. And i'm thankfull for all of you and your excouragement! Thank you so much. I love you all and i miss you all! I hope you all have an amazing Chinese New Year (by the way it's on Sunday) haha just incase you chose to celibrate it =) I love you all and i'll talk to you next week =)

This week in West Point:

Hey Family! =) How are you all doing? I just realized that in all my old emails in january i wrote 2009 not 2010. I guess that since in china it's not really the "new" year yet. =) Chinese New Year is on Feb 14th. I'm pretty excited for it. everything is getting decorated in Gold and Red and images of Tigers are everywhere. haha it's pretty cool. it makes christmas look pretty small. =) haha anyway this week has been pretty good. Last P-Day we went to Cheung Chau (the island in our area) and went exploring and went through an old pirate cave and found a private cove that looked so amazing. i wish we could swim.
On Saturday was Elder Lybbert's birthday and we treated him to McDonalds breakfast =) haha that's as fancy as missionaries go =) His parents sent him some little things to make small cakes and he loaded it up with candles. it was pretty cool.
We've seen a lot of miracles this week. the other day an investigator from aberdeen called and was talking to Elder Lybbert and she told him she wants to be baptised!!!! =) I've never had an investigator say that they want to be baptised before we invite them to be. it was pretty cool and elder Lybbert looked like he was in the clouds =) haha. On sunday we taught a member referal that has so much faith. she really wants to know if the Book of Mormon is true and if Joseph Smith is a real prophet. It was an amazing lesson.
Sorry i haven't really told you all very much about our investigators. our golden ones right now are Candy, Keven, and Alison. Alison is the one that said she wants to be baptised. Keven and Candy both have baptism dates for this month. Keven is seriously the most amazing humble person i've ever tought. before he had a really bad Word of Wisdom problem but he has completely turned his life around. He always tells us how much of an improvement he sees in himself. Candy is also amazing. she has a lot of faith and really loves family. she told me that's what attracted her to this church was how much we focus on family.
I love you all so much! I hope you all have an amazing week and i'll talk to you later. THE CHURCH IS TRUE!!!!! =)

This Week in West Point:

Hey Family!! How have you guys been? This week has been really busy and crazy. we've been running back between West Point and Aberdeen alot but it's all good. I like being busy more then having no appointments. We're constantly teaching now and i love it! =) I love my new comps. we each have different personalities and qualities that contribute to teaching our investigators. Elder Lybbert can bear an amazingly strong testimony. the other day we were teaching one of our investigators that is Athiest. We were trying to get him to pray at the end of the lesson but he kept saying there's no point in praying to someone he doesn't believe excists. I was argueing with him trying to get him to pray, and then Elder Lybbert just looks him straight in the eye and just bore a simple testimony that God is our Heavenly Father, We are His Children and he loves each and every one of us and want's to talk to us. After his testimony we each just folded our arms and bowed our heads and waited to see what our investigator would do. After a couple seconds he began to pray. It is so amazing how Strong and Powerful a small and simple testimony is. I realised after that where i need to improve and work on. on a mission you'll say that same line 30 times everyday, "God is our Heavenly Father and We are his children and He love us." I slowly lost track of the true meaning of that statement but after seeing how it helped our investigator, it really streangthened my own testimony. I really want to have that testimony again and when i bare it i want to know that it is true with all my heart and not doubt even one bit. I really believe that God will send certain people and experiences at spacific times in your life to help you improve on your weaknesses. I'm so greatful for Elder Lybbert and that Experience and how it has helped me.
Elder Lau is the Joy of the the threesom. He's always smiling and so happy. I love to go out finding with him and see his energy and willingness to serve. He reminds me alot of Elder Plumb. it makes doing this work so much easier when you have someone with you that always brings a light to the group. The other day we were trying to think of a way to help one of our investgators to feel the spirit and Elder Lau sudjests we sing a hymn. I've never done that before but we tried it. we sang I Know That My Redeemer Lives. The Investigator started singing with us even though he's never even heard of the song before. our voices didn't sound the best and we were off tune most of the time but it was the words in the song that touched each of us. I love both my comps so much and i learn so much from them everyday.
I love you all so much and I miss you all. I love being here in Hong Kong and i love the people here. I know that i am supposed to be here in this time. I know that this church is true and that God IS our Heavenly Father and that he knows, loves, and wants to talk with each one of us.
I love you all and i'll talk to you next week

This Week in West Point:

Hey everyone!!! =) How are you all doing? This last week has been really crazy but really good. So i lived with the Aberdeen Elders, Elder Greico and Lybbert, and last Saturday President Chan called elder greico to tell him that they are going to take the missionaries out of Aberdeen. there are three areas that closed this moves. Aberdeen, Tai Po, and my old area Ma On Shan. Right now there's not enough missionaries to cover every ward and no missionaries are coming in this moves. so alot of crazy stuff is happening. What they want us to do is to oversee the Aberdeen investigators and continue to teach them but they aren't really combining the two areas. They said that it should be back open next moves or the one after that.
Elder Chan also had to move away to Ching Yi. He really didn't want to move and i didn't want him to move but i really like my new companions. haha yes Companion"s". they made West Point into a threesom. My new comps are Elder Lybbert and Elder Lau. Elder Lybbert will help us with the Aberdeen Investigators and stuff and he will also go to church with a member each week down to Aberdeen. He's been out for about 3 months and he's pretty cool. and Elder Lau is amazing. he is from TST Hong Kong and an amazing missionary. He came into the mission with Elder Chan. They are both really cool. so ya a lot of craziness going on. it's going to be pretty busy this moves going back and forth between west point and aberdeen but it'll be way fun.
Last Sunday we had the Why I Believe Fireside for the missionaries going home and i had to translate for the first time. the person that was sitting next to me didn't speak english and there were a few Phillipinas baring their testimony in English and so i had to translate. It was so hard!! It really helped me realise what i need to study and work on. haha it was fun though.
I love and miss you all so much!! I know that This church is true. i know that Joseph Smith really saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I know it with all my heart. I love you all and i'll talk to you next week =)

This Week in West Point:

Hey everyone =) how are you all doing? Oh my gosh i miss you all! I wish you all could be here with me experiencing everything with me. I love it in West Point so much! I love serving with Elder Chan but we're both pretty sure that they are going to take him away next week. next week is the end of moves. I can't believe how fast time has gone by!
Last weekend we had 24 hour zone exchanges. I got to go with Elder Plumb! It was so fun. he came to West Point and we had a couple teaching appointments so i got to teach with with him again! It felt just like the MTC but we could actually talk and understand (a little bit) Chinese now. It was way awesome! i miss teaching with elder plumb so much. He is just so chill and makes the Gospel exciting. it was really good to serve with him again even though it was short.
On Saturday the whole mission went the Theatre (Stage not Movie). it was a mime act or something. it was pretty cool but really weird. it was these four people from finland or somewhere that have a bunch of different masks and different weird things. it was interesting.
on monday we taught one of our really old investigators. she can't hear very well and she talks really lazy so i can't understand her too good. every time i tried to say something to her she would turn to elder chan and ask him what the heck i just said. haha she was a really nice old lady though and she said the sweetest prayer. she pretty much asked God to bless everyone she knew to have a healthy body. i know because she said each persons name =) haha it was awesome!
The other day we found this store that is all american food!!!! IT WAS AMAZING!!!! They get all their food in bulk just like costco so they have these huge boxes of pop tarts, jelly bellies, ranch, cereal, nilla waffers, and a whole lot more. I was just drooling the whole time. elder chan doesn't even understand. haha he said that everything just looks like candy =) haha anyway we made good friends with the store owener so i hope that when we go back he'll give us a discount. =)
A couple days ago i finnished some language pass offs. i am now a Cantonese Language Giant. haha now i can start learning chinese characters!!!! i'm so excited!
Sorry i wrote so much. i need to save some things for when i get home =) haha i love you guys so much. if you ever need anything just let me know =)
The church is true! dont ever forget who you guys are =)

This Week in West Point:

Hey Everyone! How was all of your christmas and new year? I hope you all had an amazing time. i'm so sorry for not emailing last week. there's been a few changes with the email. the church is now going through Google so we had to change a few things. my email address now is peter.mcallister@myldsmail.net. if you still send emails to the old email address i'll still get them at least for a little while but it would be best to send them to this email address because the old one will soon be deleted. Last week i used up all my time just changing the email so i'm sorry about that.

These last two weeks have been good. For christmas the international zone asked us for some help. we went to Wan Chai and helped with a sacrament meeting (international is mostly philipinas that come to work in Hong Kong. they only get one day off a week and for each person that day is defferent so there is church on every day of the week so they can go to church). Me and Elder Chan helped with the sacrament and we sang some christmas songs in sacrament. after sacrament we went on exchanges and taught so many lessons. the philipinas are seriously so humble and easy to teach. it was really different from chinese work. it was deffently the most fast pased christmas but i think it was the best. we spent the whole day teaching and feeling the spirit and it was just awesome!
In Hong Kong christmas is a little different. there's christmas but they usually don't open presents on chirstmas. the day after christmas is called box day and then they open presents. usually christmas is full of eating and family getting together. alot like Thanksgiving in america. it's really different. and apperently christmas lasts like a week.
Last Pday we did Pday in the evening. we did our pros time this morning. we went on a disrict find in aberdeen. We hiked up lions rock like i did a couple of weeks ago but this time the whole zone went with us. it was so awesome but we weren't able to see the sunset because it was too foggy.
Yesterday we went to that island that we wanted to go to for christmas. we went out there and taught our investigator that lives out there. after we walked around and tried to teach a couple people. the island is really small. there's like maybe 20,000 or 30,000 people living there. you could walk the whole thing in a few hours. you could probably see a picture of it online if you look up Cheung Chau Hong Kong. just if you wanna see.
I love you all so much. i hope you are all doing good. always remember the church is true and let your light shine
Happy New Year!!!! 2010!!!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!! How are you all doing? I hope your all having an amazing Christmas! This week has been really fun but really crazy. On Friday we had a combined zone conference. We learned about how not to be too depressed and trunky over Christmas. haha I'm actually not as bad as I though I would be. I mean, I miss family and snow and stuff but honestly I think that I'm getting the real meaning of Christmas out here or at least that's what I'm trying to focus on to keep me from being trunky =) haha I'm actually really excited for tomorrow. It's Christmas so we weren't able to schedule anyone and we didn't really want to ruin people's Christmas so tomorrow we are going to an island (cheung chau) that's in our area that we have to take a boat to get to and go finding. Missionaries haven't been out there for a while because it's kind of a pain to get out there and it takes time but we're both really excited to spend Christmas on an asland and talk to people and share the true meaning of Christmas.

On Tuesday our zone with the international zone went to TST to carol. It was amazing. While we were caroling a couple of guys came up to talk to us to ask who we were and I talked to him and his friend actually started singing with us. It was pretty fun. Today we had out mission Christmas party. The whole mission was there. Each zone did a skit and it was pretty interesting. We had a huge Christmas dinner and had a secret santa present exchange. I got some pretty chill slippers. haha

I'm loving West Point so much! It's so different but I really am coming to love it. I love our investigators and they are all progressing amazing right now.

I love and miss you all! I hope you all have the best Christmas tomorrow! =)

Merry Christmas,
Elder McAllister
